A BLESSING FOR ALL ISRAEL
Keywords
16:2
After
David had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he
blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
1.
The people are blessed (1-6)
The ark of God was
set inside the tent David had prepared and burnt offerings
and fellowship
offerings were presented before God. Then David blessed the
people in the name of
the LORD and gave everyone a gift. It was a token of the
blessings that would
flow to all God’s people as they
devoted themselves to their
God in covenant love.
Later, in Solomon’s day, it was said
that everyone lived
under their own vine
and fig tree meaning that God’s blessing reached everyone.
Today, every believer
in Christ receives abundant blessings of the new covenant in
Him. Every believer
has received new birth and new life in Christ.
2.
Seek the LORD (7-11)
David appointed some
of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, to
extol, thank, and
praise the LORD. Verses 7-11 contain the first stanza of a song of
praise urging the
worshiper to remember the wonderful acts the LORD has done.
This inspires us to
look for new things the LORD will do as we seek his face. Let
us praise Jesus’ name and seek him
with joy.
Prayer
Lord,
thank you for your great blessings.
One
Word God
blesses all his people
