OBEDIENCE AND JOY
Keywords
15:14-15
14
So
the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of
the LORD, the God of Israel. 15 And
the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses
had commanded in accordance with the word of the LORD.
1.
Obedience to God’s word (1-15)
David preparing a
place for the ark of the LORD (God’s presence among his
people) was really
inviting God to be at the heart of the nation. David’s first
attempt to bring the
ark to Jerusalem failed because he did not inquire of God.
But this time, David
proceeded according to the word of God. The Levites carried
the ark of God with
the poles on their shoulders according to the word of the
LORD through Moses.
Such obedience honours our God.
2.
The joy of the Lord (16-29)
David instructed the
leaders of the Levites to appoint musicians to make joyful
sounds with singing
and musical instruments, including lyres, harps and cymbals.
Heman, Asaph, and
Ethan became worship leaders and the ark of the LORD was
brought up to
Jerusalem with great rejoicing. David’s joy-dancing and celebrating is
known only to those
who love God and his presence.
Prayer
Lord,
help us to know the joy of your presence.
One
Word Obedience
to God’s word
brings joy
