PREACH THE WORD
Keywords 4:2
Preach the Word; be prepared in
season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience
and careful instruction.
1. Preach the word
and keep your head (1-8)
Christ Jesus is coming
again to bring his kingdom and judge the living and
the dead. With this
awareness, Paul charges Timothy to preach the word, being
prepared in season
and out. People will put aside truth for myth. But Timothy must
keep his head,
enduring hardships and carrying out the duties of his ministry. Paul
gave a good example.
He poured out his life as a drink offering to God. He fought
the good fight and
kept his faith and would now receive God’s reward, the crown
of righteousness
given by the Lord’s own hand. This is
our hope.
2. The Lord stood at
my side (9-22)
Although many
deserted Paul and others opposed the gospel message, Jesus
stood by Paul and
gave him strength to preach the gospel to the Gentiles. Paul
trusted in Jesus to
rescue him and deliver him to the heavenly kingdom.
Prayer Father, thank you for
Paul’s example. Help me to
preach the word and
fight the good fight.
One Word Preach the word in
season and out
