ISAAC’s WELL-DIGGING FAITH
Keywords 26:25
Isaac built an altar there and
called on the name of the LORD. There he pitched his tent, and there his
servants dug a well.
1. Isaac’s well-digging faith
(16-26)
When God blessed
Isaac, the Philistines felt threatened, and Abimelech told
Isaac to move away.
When Isaac peacefully left, God blessed him to dig up his
father’s old wells, as well
as new wells. Then the Philistines fought over the wells,
so Isaac moved again.
Though God blessed him with another well, Isaac had no
peace. He went to
Beersheba, and the Lord appeared to him and told him not to
be afraid. God
promised to be with him and to bless his descendants. Then Isaac
built an altar and
worshiped the Lord. It was the first known altar built by Isaac,
revealing his
personal faith. There the Lord granted him another well as his sign of
love.
2. The treaty with
Abimelech (27-35)
Surprisingly,
Abimelech and his commander Phicol beseeched Isaac to form a
treaty with them.
This time, Isaac was not afraid. He made a feast for them and
swore an oath of
peace. Afterwards, God gave him another well. By faith, Isaac
could bear God’s blessings and
remain in the land. (Yet Esau was getting worse
spiritually and
married two Hittites.).
Prayer Lord, help me to have
personal faith.
One Word Worship God and bear
his blessings
