Nehemiah 6:1-19 / Keywords 6:16
THE WALL IS COMPLETED
1.
“Now strengthen my hands” (1-14)
Some opponents did
not want the returnees to renew their national spirit by
rebuilding the wall.
They tried to get Nehemiah involved in politics. He told them
four times that he
was too busy building the wall to meet them. His adversaries
tried to frighten him
by spreading false accounts of his activities and accusing
him of plotting a
rebellion. They even reported this to the government. Nehemiah
prayed for God’s strength and kept
on working. His foes sent a false prophet
to warn Nehemiah of a
threat on his life and to suggest that he hide out in the
temple. Nehemiah
ignored them and kept working on the wall.
2.
The wall is rebuilt with God’s help (15-19)
After 52 days, the
walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt. It was a miracle! It had been
in rubble for 150
years. All their enemies could not but acknowledge this was only
possible with God’s help. God used
Nehemiah to inspire them to rely on God by
faith, overcome their
fears, renew their strength, and do the work of rebuilding and
restoring.
Prayer
Lord,
help me to overcome Satan’s tactics and fear;
help me to keep on
doing
your work-and rely on your help.
One
Word Be
strong in the Lord and experience his help
