Luke 3:21-38 / Keywords 3:22
JESUS IS BAPTIZED
1.
Jesus’ baptism (21-22)
Jesus came to be
baptized by John. His baptism was the sign that his messianic
ministry was
beginning; it was his inauguration ceremony. Jesus began his mission
life with prayer.
Heaven opened and the Holy Spirit came to him. The Heavenly
Father made a
declaration: Jesus is the Son of God, loved by the Father and
pleasing to him. God
was pleased that Jesus accepted his mission. The Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit
were all involved in the redemptive plan from the beginning.
2.
Jesus’ genealogy (23-38)
Jesus began his
ministry at age 30. He had a rich ancestry. Luke begins Jesus’
genealogy with Adam
and records his lineage probably through Mary’s line, which
is also of the line of
David. Jesus was man and the Son of God. Jesus truly is
Christ the King. My
identity, history, and lineage starts with Jesus.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for
accepting your mission and ministry as the Messiah.
Thank you for saving
me and calling me into your redemptive history.
One
Word Jesus began his
mission to save me
