AWESOME GOD CREATES THE WORLD

Passage: Genesis 1:6-25

Key verse: 25

 

1. God makes the environment (6-13)

Having already created light energy as the source of life on the first day, God

turns his attention to water. On the second day of creation, God separates the

waters to make the seas and sky. On the third day, God makes dry ground appear

and vegetation grow. These acts of creation set an environment where the rest of

creation can flourish. Through these first three days, we learn that the environment

is foundational.

 

2. God fills the environment (14-25)

On the fourth day, God creates the sun, stars, and moon to set the seasons,

days, and years and to illuminate the earth. On the fifth day, God creates the birds

to fill the sky and the fish to occupy the seas, and he blesses and commands

them to multiply. On the sixth day, God creates the animal kingdom and gives

them the land to dwell in. When we consider God’s handiwork, we cannot but

confess how great God is.

 

Prayer O Lord, you are Creator God who has made the world so wondrously.

Please fill my heart with your awesome glory.
