A HYMN OF PRAISE TO OUR GOD
Keywords
40:3
He put a new
song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put
their trust in the LORD.
1. I waited patiently for the Lord (1-10)
When David was in trouble, he waited for the Lord. Not
only did God lift him out of his trouble, but he gave David a song of praise to
God. He used David to bring others to fear God and trust in him. He made him
proclaim the wonders of God to the great assembly of God’s people.
The Lord desires to use us, in all of our troubles, as the testimonies of his
saving love. God can open our minds and hearts to his beauty and raise us as
those who proclaim his righteousness and love.
2. May all who seek you
rejoice (11-17)
The mercy of God is our salvation from all of our
troubles and all of our sins. God’s faithful love is our protection from evil in this
world. David prayed that the enemies of God would be turned back in shame, but
that those who seek God would be blessed. In our poverty we can be mindful of
the Lord who knows us and delivers us to himself.
Prayer Lord, bless
me to wait patiently for you in my time of need. Raise me as one who proclaims
your praises to all people in our times.
One Word Sing praises to our God
