STAND FIRM; SEE THE LORD’S DELIVERANCE
Keywords 14:13a
Moses answered the people, "Do
not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring
you today.
1. God led and went ahead of them
(13:17-22)
God led his people on a longer
route to avoid the Philistines. They also brought Joseph’s bones with them (Gen 50:25).
God went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud by day to guide them on their way
and a pillar of fire by night to give them light. So they could travel by day
or night.
2.
“The LORD will fight for you” (14:1-14)
Pharaoh had a change of mind and
heart: he decided to go after them to either kill them all or enslave them
again. But God was doing something to gain glory through Pharaoh and his army.
The Israelites freaked out; they complained to Moses, saying it would’ve been better to remain as
slaves. Moses told them, “Don’t be afraid. Stand firm and see
the LORD’s deliverance…The LORD will fight for you.” Moses was right. He just didn’t know the details yet.
Prayer
Lord, when you lead me and go ahead
of me, I have nothing to fear. Even when I don’t know exactly what’s going on, I trust in your
deliverance.
One Word Stand firm; see the Lord’s deliverance
