GOD, THE BLESSED AND ONLY RULER
Keywords 6:15-16
which God
will bring about in his own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of
kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable
light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honour and might forever.
Amen.
1. But
you, man of God ... (11-16)
In
conclusion to his letter, Paul gives a final charge: flee from all this and
pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. This
life will require us to fight the good fight of faith. Eternal life is promised
to those who make the good confession and take hold of it! Jesus gave us an
excellent example. We are charged to keep this command without spot or blame
until Jesus comes again in God’s own time. Look up to God, our blessed and only
Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords. He alone is immortal and lives in
unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To him be honour and
might forever. Amen.
2. Guard
what has been entrusted to you (17-21)
Sometimes
the rich are distracted by money and need to be commanded to turn back to God,
doing good, so that they may store up treasure in heaven. In final
admonishment, we need to guard what is entrusted to our care, which is the
gospel.
Prayer Father, you are King of kings and
Lord of lords. Help me fight the good fight of faith.
One Word To him be honour and might forever
