ASA’S REFORM
Keywords 15:7
"But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your
work will be rewarded."
1. Be strong and don’t give up (1-7)
In those days Israel
was idol worshiping. So God troubled them and travel was
not safe. Nation crushed each other. All the lands were in
great turmoil. Then
Azariah with the Spirit of God said to Asa, “Listen, the
Lord is with you when you
are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but
if you forsake him, he
will forsake you. But as for you, ‘Be strong and do not give
up, for your work will
be rewarded.’”
2. The Lord gave them rest (8-19)
So Asa took courage.
He removed all the detestable idols from the whole land.
He repaired the altar of the Lord. He assembled all his
people and entered into a
covenant to seek the Lord with all their heart and soul. All
who would not seek the
Lord were put to death. They rejoiced because they sought
God wholeheartedly.
Asa even deposed his grandmother for her Asherah worship.
Asa‘s heart was fully
committed to the Lord all his life. So the Lord gave them
rest on every side.
Prayer Lord, give us courage to remove all idols from
our hearts.
One Word Be strong and don’t give up!
