REHOBOAM
Keywords 10:15
So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of
events was from God, to fulfill the word the LORD had spoken to Jeroboam son of
Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.
1. Rehoboam rejected good advice (1-15)
To the new king
Rehoboam, the Israelites with Jeroboam appealed, “If you
lighten the harsh labour, then we will serve you.” Rehoboam
consulted both the
elders and the young men. Then he rejected the elders who
said, “Be kind and
give them a favourable answer.” Instead, he followed the
young men and answered
harshly to the Israelites. But this turn of events came from
God who foretold
Jeroboam to be a king for the sin of Solomon.
2. Israel departed from Judah (16-19)
The people were so
upset with the king’s harsh answer that all Israel returned
home saying, “Look after your own house, David!” Only Judah
remained and
Rehoboam reigned over them. When Solomon sinned against God,
the Lord
began to divide Israel in two.
Prayer Lord, your word comes true always both the
blessed words and the
curses.
One Word God is merciful but just
