Deuteronomy 1:19-46

DO NOT REBEL; TRUST IN THE LORD

Keywords 1:21

See, the LORD your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your fathers, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."

1. “Go up and take possession of it” (19-25)

At Kadesh Barnea, Moses had said, "God has given you the land...Go up...do

not be afraid" (8,21). Then Moses sent spies from each tribe. They brought back

fruit and reported that the land God was giving them was good.

2. You rebelled and did not trust in God (26-46)

The people became afraid to take the land; they thought they were too weak.

Moses reminded them that God fought for them in Egypt and showed them the

way by fire and cloud. But they did not trust in God. So, God decided that none

of them would enter the land except for Moses’ successor Joshua and Caleb,

who followed God wholeheartedly. Then the people changed their minds and

decided to fight. But God did not give them the victory since they were stubbornly

following their own ideas and feelings.

Prayer Lord, take away my fear, unbelief, and stubborn pride. I trust and obey you.

One Word Trust in God and obey him
