DAVID’S MIGHTY WARRIORS
Keywords 11:10
These were the chiefs of David's mighty men--they, together with all
Israel, gave his kingship strong support to extend it over the whole land, as
the LORD had promised-
1. The kingdom is extended (10-14)
How can the kingdom of God be
extended in our generation? It happens by the
power of God working in the lives
of people wholly dedicated to the Lord and
who claim His wonderful promises.
Verse 10 says that David’s mighty warriors
supported David’s kingship and extended it to the whole land, as the
LORD
had promised. Eleazar, one of the
Three, was a great warrior. The Philistines had
gathered for battle near a barley
field. Although the rest of the Israelites fled,
Eleazar offered his life to God.
He stood and fought with David and the LORD
brought about a great victory
through them.
2. Seek the Lord’s desire (15-47)
Three of David’s thirty chiefs overheard David’s desire for a refreshing drink of
water from a certain well near
Bethlehem. So they broke through enemy lines,
drew water from the well, and
brought it back to him out of deep love for their
king. David realized that he was
not worthy of such a sacrifice. Only our Lord
Jesus Christ is worthy of our
sacrifice and his desire is for the gospel to be spread
to all nations.
Prayer Lord, give us faith
to live for your kingdom!
One Word Extend
the kingdom of God!
