AN EVERLASTING KINGDOM
Keywords 7:27
Then the sovereignty, power and
greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the
saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting
kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.'
1. Four great beasts
(1-14)
Daniel had a vision
of four great beasts that grew increasingly more terrifying.
The beasts seemed to
be in full control, capable of overcoming all things. (Even
so, there was God,
the Ancient of Days, on his throne.) He gave authority to the
Son of Man. The
beasts were threatening, but the sovereignty of God is forever.
His kingdom cannot be
destroyed by the powers of worldly kingdoms.
2. The interpretation
of these things (15-28)
The beasts
represented the kingdoms of this world. There are those who would
oppress the children
of God and even malign God himself. For a time, God’s
holy people would be
subject to such rulers, but God is the sovereign ruler and
the judge of all
things. He will rule forever, and his people will worship him in the
everlasting kingdom.
Prayer Lord, when I feel
crushed by the world, help me to be mindful of your
eternal glory.
One Word Our God reigns
forever
