THE RICHES OF GOD’S GRACE
Ephesians
1:7-14 / Keywords 1:7
In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the
forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace 8 that he lavished
on us with all wisdom and understanding. 9 And he made known to us the mystery of his will according
to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10 to be put into
effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things
in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. 11 In him we were
also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out
everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 12 in order that
we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
13 And you also
were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised
Holy Spirit, 14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the
redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
1. Through Jesus, we receive the riches of God’s grace. Primarily, we are redeemed by Jesus’ holy
blood shed on the cross. We are forgiven of all our sins. It is not easy even
for those who love us to forgive us for our wretched sins. But Jesus in his
matchless grace redeems us from the curse of sin and forgives everything we
have done wrong!
2. This marvelous grace of Christ which is greater than
all my sins is the dearest testimony of how he lavishes me with the riches of
God’s grace. Today, if someone asks you how you are, say, “I am lavished with the riches of God’s grace!”
3. In wisdom and understanding, God made known the
mystery of his will to unite all things under Christ. Now there is no more
clean and unclean, Jew or Gentile, but we are united in Christ through his
blood and adopted as his children in one family. We are marked by the seal of
the Holy Spirit, who declares that we belong to Jesus and God’s family and we will inherit the kingdom of God. We praise God for his
glory and the riches of his grace!
Prayer Father, thank you for Jesus who redeems us by his blood and forgives all
our sins. Thank you for making us one family in Christ. Help me to see how
lavished I am by the riches of Jesus’ infinite grace.
One Word Lavished with the riches of God’s matchless grace
