ALL WHO WERE WILLING
Keywords 35:29
All the Israelite men and women who were
willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD
through Moses had commanded them to do.
1. Before resuming work on the
Tabernacle, a proper rhythm of work and rest had to be established. Six days
were for work, but the seventh day was a holy day, a day of rest to the LORD.
Keeping this rhythm has been a core identity of God’s people, a sign of God’s covenant in every generation (31:13).
This unique approach to time that keeps one in seven days separate is only
possible by faith.
2. God had commanded Moses in detail
regarding the plans and needs of the Tabernacle. The necessary materials were
numerous and to be provided by offerings to the LORD from all the people. The
offering was to be given out of a willing heart, shown by an offering of
materials, skills, time, and labor to build all the elements of the Tabernacle.
In this way, they willingly prepared a place for God to dwell with them (25:8).
God wants a two-way relationship with us; on his part, he sent Jesus to make
his dwelling among us (Jn 1:14). Our response is to willingly invite him into
our lives, families, community, and world.
Prayer Father, you sent Jesus to make your dwelling with us. Grant me a willing
heart in service to you each day.
One Word Serve God with a willing heart
