JESUS CLEANSES A MAN WITH LEPROSY
Keywords 8:3
Jesus reached out his hand
and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!"
Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
1. “If you are willing, you can make me clean” (1-2)
Jesus’ popularity grew,
and many people enjoyed hearing him speak and receiving his love (1). But a man
with leprosy was not allowed to join with society. His contagious and fatal
disease left him ostracized and lonely. But by faith he approached Jesus,
kneeling. He believed Jesus’ power, but would
Jesus be willing to help him? Sin, like leprosy, separates us from others and
from God. We may learn from this man to come to Jesus by faith, trusting in his
power, and begging his mercy.
2. “I am willing. Be
clean!” (3-4)
Jesus was more than
willing. He reached out his hand, touching the untouchable. His touch was one
of compassion and acceptance. Jesus said, “Be clean!” Immediately he was
cured of his leprosy. Jesus healed him emotionally through his touch and his
words, “I am willing.” He healed him
physically, saying, “Be clean!” By sending him to
the priests to present his testimony, he restored him to society and gave him a
new life. Jesus is willing to receive anyone as they are, and fully heal and
restore them. All that is needed is trusting faith.
Prayer Lord, thank you for
receiving all who come to you by faith. Help me share Jesus with others.
One Word Jesus is willing that we be clean
