ENTRUSTED WITH THE SECRET THINGS OF GOD
Keywords 4:1
So then, men ought to regard us as
servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.
1. Those given a trust must prove faithful
(1,2)
The Corinthian church suffered
from divisions because people divided themselves into groups depending on who
their Bible teacher was. They boasted about their Bible teachers. But Paul
admonished them because they were but servants of Christ, entrusted with the
secret things from God. To them, God revealed a long-hidden mystery: that
Christ died for the sin of the world and that whoever believed this would
receive eternal life. Paul and the other Bible teachers were faithful to their
calling as servants of Christ. We too should be faithful to the same calling.
2.
It is the Lord who judges (3-5)
Paul could rebuke them for their
divisions because he did not care about what people said about him. He cared
nothing for the judgments of people. It is the Lord who judges. Everything will
be judged in its proper time, by the Lord, when he comes again. God will judge
all people. Those who do not believe will be condemned. But those who believe
will receive praise from God.
Prayer
Father, thank you that you have
called me as your servant. Help me to be faithful to your calling.
One Word Be faithful to your calling
