REJOICE IN CHRIST
Keywords 2:17
But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on
the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with
all of you.
1. For
it is God who works in you (12-13)
Through our obedience to Christ, we are
changed, refined, and perfected in our
faith. This
requires an awesome fear of God. Then, God works in and through us
to
accomplish his own good purpose—to mold us into the image of Christ and,
through us,
bring the gospel of Jesus to the world.
2.
Rejoice in Christ (14-18)
We must do everything without grumbling or
arguing, which darkens our hearts.
Instead,
when we fear God, we become blameless and pure children of God, who
shine like
stars. Because of their faith, Paul rejoiced in the face of martyrdom. He
knew that
he did not run in vain because God will work out his own good purpose
to accomplish
his salvation work in and through them.
Prayer Lord, forgive me for grumbling and
arguing. Help me to fear you, obey
you, and
sacrifice my life for Christ, rejoicing in the salvation work God is
doing. Help
me to see that my labour in Christ is not in vain.
One Word
Rejoice in Christ’s
salvation work
