Luke 5:12-16 / Keywords 5:13
JESUS HEALS A MAN WITH LEPROSY
1.
I am willing (12-13)
As Jesus was teaching
in one of the towns, he was approached by a man
covered with leprosy.
Not only did he look hideous and disfigured, he was
considered unclean by
Jewish law. He was a person who should not come
near anyone except
other lepers. But when he heard Jesus, he saw one who
would be willing and
able to make him clean. Jesus healed him, not from afar,
but by reaching out
to him, by taking his infirmities. Jesus is willing to bear the
uncleanness of lepers
and even sinners. He is willing to heal.
2.
Show yourself to the priest (14-16)
Jesus gave an order
to this man not to tell anyone. He also ordered him to
present himself in
accordance with the law to the priests. Jesus made this man
a testimony of God
who is able to heal, and willing to bear our uncleanness. This
man is a testimony of
God who has come in Jesus. Jesus became a lonely figure
because of this
healing. Ultimately, he would suffer all in order to heal us.
Prayer
Lord,
use this sinner as a testimony of your healing love. Thank you for
bearing
my sin.
One
Word “I am willing.”
