JESUS BEFORE PILATE
Passage: Mark 15:1~15
Keyverse: 2
1. The king of the Jews (1-5)
The Jewish leaders condemned Jesus, but they had no power to execute
him. They brought him to Pilate and charged him with claiming to be king of the
Jews. Jesus did not reply to their accusations. He is the king who bore their
accusations on himself.
2. "Crucify him!" (6-15)
Pilate knew that the Jews were ruled by envy (10), but Pilate was
ruled by his self-serving attitude. When he tried to compromise and free Jesus,
he was thwarted. So he released a murderer and condemned an innocent man to
death to serve his self-interest. Jesus was the king who was crucified at their
hands.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for being the king who is crucified
for my sins. I am ruled by many things; help me to live under your rule only.
One Word: Live before king Jesus
